What is love? How do you know you truly love someone?
These are questions that have always sparked an interested among humans. Many poems/novels/letters and other romantic/depressive/optimistic or boring gestures have been written and done, about and in the name of love. There’s a popular idea that love is made of these butterflies flying around in your stomach, on top of roses offered anytime (on special occasions plus random days just to show us,women, that we are cherished) and dinner dates in expensive restaurants, obviously.
Well, let me tell you, in your stomach there’s just gastric juices and digested food. A small wildflower picked from the field and put in a girl’s hair, and a picnic on a hill (even if it rains) will do wonders! Love doesn’t really need expensive or flashy gifts and surprises. It needs listening to each other, worrying that maybe your partner will get cold in that jacket, putting no pressure to be loved back, giving the other person all the time he/she needs, listening to music together, and quiet times looking at and understanding each other without any words being spoken.
Give each other space! Nobody is always happy or sad, just be patient and let yourselves process your own feelings and needs! Love yourself in the first place! Learn everything about yourself and accept your strengths and correct your flaws in order to be able to understand and accept your partner!
Most importantly, don’t fall in love with one another because of your qualities! Find the darkness in the other person and love that! If he/she drives you crazy with their “bad side”, but at the same time makes your heart race just by sitting on the opposite side of the table looking at you, then go for it! Loving someone for their kindness, or calmness, or beauty is nice, but it doesn’t last long. Liking, being motivated and excited by their dark side, that’s the best feeling! We all have one, don’t worry! You’ll recognize it! Don’t hide your uniqueness, however scary it might be, some day it will bring you to the right person!
Until then, stay weird and amazing! Oh right..and be patient! ( I’m still learning this lesson)
